Claude for Sheets™ introduces Anthropic’s Claude AI assistant directly into Google Sheets™, enabling seamless access to its functionalities. After installing the extension, users can effortlessly employ two formula functions, ‘=CLAUDE()’ and ‘=CLAUDEFREE()’, empowering them to interact with Claude for diverse purposes. These functions allow users to extract information, rewrite text, translate, classify inquiries, remove personally identifiable information, summarize content, facilitate role play, engage in advanced document Q&A with citations, and more. The add-on incorporates features like automatic in-sheet caching, throttling capability, and on-demand recalculation, optimizing API call costs and usage. Importantly, data shared externally is limited to Anthropic, ensuring privacy as detailed in the Privacy Policy. Although the add-on is free, API calls made through it are billed according to the associated Anthropic API key’s pricing schedule. The caching system within Google Cloud aids in managing responses and cache expiration, ensuring efficiency in function. Throttling and recalculation functionalities further control API call costs and cater to concurrent request limitations imposed by the Anthropic API key.
